Empire Academy Training Philosophy

If the training philosophy of Empire Academy were to be summarized in one word, that word would be BALANCE. There are many ways that Empire Academy attempts to balance the training our members receive:

The Balance of Skills

Each member decides what and to what extent they want to train various skills (striking, grappling, both). Empire Academy makes sure that our members are able to do this. You will not find that the skills you learn in one program are in conflict with the skills you need in another program (for example, the grappling stance won't have to be changed to do boxing, we won't teach you grappling techniques that will get you hurt in self defense like turtling, or turning your back to your opponent, etc...). We have found that this approach allows our members the most options in their training.

The Balance of Competition, Self-Defense, and Fitness

Some members will want to compete in various combat sports, others will only want some good exercise. Both of these groups will be able to train at Empire Academy. Because each member will get individual attention from the coaches, the pace, intensity and training methods can be customized to help the participant reach the goal they have for themselves.

The Balance of Physical and Mental

Our training is good exercise no matter what fitness level you are at, but we also make sure that our members are able to grow in mental aspects. Whether through competition, the discipline of training, or the learning of new skills, the training at Empire Academy will help you to grow mentally.

The Balance of Effort and Fun

We work out hard, but we all have a good time too. We all enjoy training, and try to promote a friendly and fun environment where it is an enjoyable experience to train.
